This is a delightful dress from the 1940's, possibly home sewn. There are no fabric labels but it has the look and feel of soft fluid cotton, but more likely a rayon mix. The fabric is so pretty. Smudged horizontal grey stripes alternate with rows of little flowers on a blue background. There are integral short sleeves and a rounded fold flat collar. The dress fastens at the bodice with concave bakelite white buttons. The gathered skirt has two tiers, and the bottom tier features the stripes running vertically as a contrast. There is a side metal zip and belt hoops but no original belt.
waist: 30" (slightly loose fitting drop waist style)
Approximately UK size 10/12 (loose fitting design)
1940's / CONDITION: Very good - there are some neat hand stitched seam repairs and some hand stitching down the edge of the front by the button holes.
